Job Summary

Newberry Group seeks a Cybersecurity Technical Writer/Editor for a potential contract to begin later this year. The position works closely with military and/or government civilian employees to provide technical documentation.

Location

MacDill AFB, FL – this is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite weekly.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develops and edits technical and user documentation for squadron SOPs, ongoing and enduring initiatives undertaken by the squadron, and cybersecurity systems and policies under the purview of the squadron.

Ensures communication of processes, procedures and technical messages to specific audiences, both internal and external to the squadron, at various levels so the audience may fully understand. I.e. PowerPoint presentations, signage/ stickers / banners created for public affairs.

Presents information in reports, SOPs, and instruction manuals that are printed or accessible online via online systems such as SharePoint.

Assists in collection and organization of information required for preparation of SOPs, System Security Plans & policies, IT support roles and responsibilities, squadron COOP plan, Cyber Readiness battle rhythm, disaster recovery plans, and special project presentations.

Full documentation of 6 Communications Squadron Processes, Procedures, Resources and Systems under their purview. Deliver 6 Communications Squadron training aids that could be utilized for any new member to the squadron.

Fully document all cybersecurity policies consistent with higher level directives and local policies. Deliver reference handouts detailing these policies for end users.

Deliver 6 Communications Squadron training aids for end users explaining portfolio of services offered and how to request support.

Centralize all SOPs and items above onto the 6 CS official records drive.

Where possible, establish a 6 CS “brand/style” for all documents, training aids and reference material across the squadron.

Provide bi-weekly updates to the 6 CS Commander or Deputy Director to provide progress updates and receive vector checks to ensure the mission/vision of this endeavor is on- track. Qualifications:

Knowledge of Air Force communication squadron culture, as well as a basic-to-intermediate technical knowledge in areas such as: endpoint security, network vulnerability scanning, insider threat, cyber hygiene, IT support functions, and cybersecurity resiliency.

Familiarity with DoD/DAF publications, end user policies and training requirements. I.e. Comply-to-connect policy

Familiarity with DoD/DAF compliance methods, such as well as STIGs and CCRIs.

Ability to communicate effectively with the Airmen and write SOPs that are intelligible to all audiences.

Ability to interpret complex technical ideas from technicians into documentation that can be understood by non-technical supervisors and commanders.

Possess/Acquire an understanding of how the SOPs will be utilized, such that the Technical Writer/Editor could train a new airman on how to use them (if necessary due to personnel deployments, TDYs, extensive leaves).

Ability to manage time efficiently to meet overarching completion deadlines due to volume of documentation and number of people that will be involved.

Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information science, technical writing, or other relative area of study.

At least 1 year of relevant experience supporting similar requirements for Department of Defense mission area.

Active security clearance (Secret or above). Although most documentation will be on Unclassified systems, some documentation will require a Secret Clearance and access to SIPRNet.

Provide support to 6 CS Continuous Process Improvement events and adjust documentation to encapsulate any updates to IT support processes or document any IT support processes that were not previously defined.

Knowledge and solid understanding of common Microsoft Office365 tools
