TRAFFIC CONTROL AIDE-HOURLY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Willingness and ability to perform the duties of the job Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications * Successful completion of a job training program is required after hire * Must be at least 19 years of age at the closing date of the application NOTE: Proof of age (e.g., current Driver's License, State ID, Passport, etc.) must be submitted at the time of processing.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position is willing and able.

NOTE: This is a part-time position that does not offer benefits.

Hours vary based on the needs of the City and there is no guarantee of work.

A Traffic Control Aide - Hourly must be available to work anywhere in the City of Chicago and anytime events are scheduled.

Employees will be given a monthly schedule two weeks prior to the start of the month.

No employee can work more than 1,300 hours in a year.

WORKING CONDITIONS * Exposure to outdoor weather conditions * Exposure to loud noise PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time * Ability to quickly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with one's body, arms, and/or legs * Some lifting (up to 20 pounds) is required City Colleges of Chicago - Intro to Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) Certificate Preference: The City of Chicago offers a preference to individuals who have successfully completed the City of Chicago/City Colleges of Chicago partnership program resulting in a certificate of completion for the Introduction to Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) course.

In order to receive the OEMC/EMC Preference, candidates need to indicate whether or not they successfully completed the program by answering "yes" or "no" to the question on the online application that asks, "Did you successfully complete the City Colleges of Chicago Introduction to Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) Certificate Program and do you want to be considered for this preference?" In addition, you must attach documentation to verify your successful completion from the City Colleges of Chicago.

You must attach a copy of your City Colleges of Chicago - Introduction to Emergency Management & Communications Completion Certificate.

Failure to answer the question and attach the required documentation will result in you not being considered for the preference.
