L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions Londonderry, a leading designer and manufacturer of laser, night vision, and electro-optic devices is seeking a lead Electrical Engineer to pursue a career in a fast-paced company where new designs become production reality. As a member of our product development staff, you will lead and support electrical teams in the creation of new technology initiatives and advancements. A variety of Electrical Engineering and leadership skills, specifically in the development of high-technology weapon-mounted, helmet-mounted, and hand-held military products, will be required to bring projects from concept to production.
Essential Functions:
Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area.
Lead and/or manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization, with minimal oversight or direction.
Lead and support electrical design teams in the development of new products.
Communicate inside and outside the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes, and approaches. Make significant improvements to processes, systems, or products.
Implement operational plans that have direct impact on department goals and have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Direct and conduct component, subsystem, and system level design trades and analyses.
Lead and perform rapid prototyping and assembly, in support of concept demonstration hardware.
Translate product and system requirements into electrical requirements and specifications to be used for design, development, and design verification.
Expertise in electrical/electronic analog and digital circuit design, including power supply and power conversion, front-end sensor circuits, ADC and DAC, microprocessors and microcontrollers, and FPGAs.
A demonstrable background in designing high reliability analog and digital electronics, including precision instrumentation amplifier frontends and mixed signal interfaces.
Experience in designing high efficiency power conversion circuits for low power, battery operated systems.
Experience with EMI/EMC best design practices.
Knowledge of PCB layout requirements, packaging tradeoffs, and testing of low-noise, mixed-mode circuitry, preferably for electro/optical applications.
Design electronic modules, including rigid and flexible PCBAs and related interconnects.
Utilize ECAD/CAE software tools in the design and analysis of electrical and electronic modules.
Design, development, integration, and test of electrical/electronic, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical components, subsystems, and systems.
Collaborate with systems, mechanical, optical, software / firmware, and manufacturing engineering staff.
Design for manufacturing, test, power, size, weight, and DTUPC project requirements.
Design for high reliability and harsh MIL-STD environments, including shock/vibration, extreme temperatures, and immersion.
Work with PCB designers to create low-noise, high-reliability board designs.
Electrical/electronic module and system design and analysis; including circuit analysis, modeling, simulation, and timing analysis.
Development of detailed design documentation.
Lead and participate in design reviews.
Conduct design analysis and testing to prove design meets requirements, including EMC testing.
Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and data collection for performance analysis and debug/troubleshooting. Able to do data analysis, calculations, generate graphs/diagrams, and write reports.
Post-design and troubleshooting skills with solid hands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers, and other test equipment required.
Lead and support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) teams in the resolution of technical issues.
Transition new designs and technologies to production.
Support sustaining electrical engineering for qualified production designs.
Generate and/or process engineering change orders (ECOs) as required.
Excellent communication (both verbal and written), collaboration, time management, organizational skills, and presentation skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
8 years of experience developing electrical engineering hardware within the defense, aerospace, or medical product fields.
An excellent understanding of mechanical, optical, software / firmware, and digital requirements.
In-depth knowledge of project management.
EE-specific software experience:
ECAD: Siemens Cadence OrCAD Capture CIS, Allegro.
PSPICE circuit simulation.
FPGA experience.
Strong Experience with RF applications and electronics.
Strong Experience with task scoping, prioritization, and execution to project schedules and milestones.
Strong Experience with SOPs, process control, and standardization of work output.
Working knowledge of at least one programming language.
