Design Manager

️ Design Manager – Full-Time Onsite

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Salary Range: $100,000–$160,000

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee a high-performing design team. This full-time, onsite position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, and a passion for improving efficiency and maintaining high-quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Partner with Sales to ensure designs meet client needs and company goals.

Address field sales and customer inquiries regarding truss quality and compatibility.

Collaborate with Production to ensure designs are production-ready and align with scheduling needs.

Coordinate with Shipping/Dispatch to optimize truck loads and reduce overwide permit needs.

Ensure quality standards to minimize returns and product damage.

Work with software providers and IT to maintain efficiency and ensure tools are current and effective.

Implement and review procedures to improve operational workflow.

Train design staff to optimize designs for material and labor savings.

Manage internal and external designers, quality analysts, and design administrators.

Oversee daily tasks and performance in the Design Department.

Provide clear, timely feedback and support to the team.

Additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

5+ years of truss design experience and 2+ years in a design management role (or 7 years combined education/experience).

Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.

Proven ability to manage deadlines and lead multiple design projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Solid math skills, including measurements, percentages, and ratios.

Ability to analyze data and solve problems effectively.

Proficient in truss design software — MiTek experience is required.

Knowledge of IT systems and basic coding preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands frequently.

Occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Must have good vision (close, peripheral, color, depth perception).
