The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (MDL) Data Specialist is responsible for managing the pre and post-analytic workflows for each patient tested in the MDL. These responsibilities include: processing requisitions, pulling slides for review by the pathologist, requesting outside slides/blocks, conversing with outside hospitals and accessioning cases into the Pathology LIS. In addition, the MDL Data Specialist utilizes a number of databases to track pre-analytical processes, obtain test results, attain statistics, and ensure quality control and quality assurance measures. Most importantly, the position requires effective communication with ordering providers and their staff to clarify orders, educate them on test processes, update them on specimen adequacy and test status, and notify them that results are available.
The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (MDL) is a CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratory that currently focuses on molecular oncology and genetic testing using both automated sequencing instruments and next generation sequencing platforms. The laboratory is active in new test and technology development.

Bachelors Degree (Required)

1 year experience working in a clinical testing laboratory (Required)

License/Certifications
