Description
Under occasional supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems and equipment, including the wastewater treatment plant, and in the maintenance of campus grounds. Performs related maintenance work as required. Reports the Savannah River Research Campus Manager.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
First response to after hour emergencies.
Attends site staff and safety meetings.
Provides training and leadership to subordinate personnel assigned.
Receives and responds to tenant and lessee inquires for assistances and complaints.
Performs preventive maintenance such as cleans, inspects, services, and performs minor equipment repairs. Assists with equipment under contract.
Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs of various plumbing systems and equipment, including but not limited to bathroom fixtures, water heaters / coolers, water lines, valves, drain lines, water fountains, etc.
Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs electrical components and equipment, including but not limited to general electrical wiring, electrical outlets, switches, breakers, light fixtures, ballasts, circuits, security lights, ground lights, etc.; changes light bulbs as needed.
Assists in maintaining and operations of the wastewater treatment plant; maintains and performs minor repairs ACTL tanks and operates tank equipment and maintains related records.
Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and system problems; schedules and performs required repair work or parts replacement.
Performs routine painting and carpentry work as required.
Performs general building maintenance work as necessary, including cleaning carpets, hanging pictures, assembling /moving furnishings, etc.
Performs general groundskeeping work, including but not limited to mowing lawns, removing weeds, installing and maintaining landscape materials, removing debris from grounds, etc.
Installs, maintains and repairs irrigation systems and equipment.
Assists in coordinating and supervising the work of contractors; ensures work is performed in compliance with contracts and specifications.
Orders supplies, materials, tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks.
Maintains assigned tools and equipment
Maintains accurate records on maintenance/repair work completed.
Performs all work in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards of safety and quality; ensures the timely completion of all assignments.
Receives and reviews various records and reports including work orders, bids, estimates, etc.
Prepares reports, maintenance records, inspection records, and various other logs and records.
Refers to policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, building codes, safety sheets, etc.
Operates a vehicle, pick-up truck, tractor, lawn mower, bush hog, and a variety of equipment such as a pressure washer, electrical testers / meters, various other power tools, etc.
Uses mechanic’s tools, plumbing tools, electrician’s tools, and other general hand tools, maintenance supplies and parts.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other County employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
Typical Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a vocational school diploma in one or more building trade(s) supplemented by one to two years of experience in facility maintenance and repair work, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
