Process Engineer Design & Technology Dev

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our Global Crop Protection Innovation (CPI) Vapi team. In this pivotal role candidate will guide the design, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes, with a strong focus on flexibility, safety, and sustainability. You’ll work in a cross-functional team of R&D, operations, and project to develop innovative solutions for complex process engineering challenges. The successful applicant will join an international and cross-divisional project team. This role demands deep technical knowledge in process engineering combined with strong leadership and project execution capabilities. You will be responsible for setting engineering direction for flexible, modular, and campaign-based manufacturing systems to enable rapid product changes and scalable production in both batch and continuous processes in in-house manufacturing plants or at toller’s manufacturing facilities. Leveraging your expertise in Chemical Engineering you will ensure that the safe scalable economical and sustainable process. The job holders ensure all the experimental work is done following the highest safety standards and document the generated data in the standard format.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guide the design and development of chemical processes for new and existing products in a multipurpose plant environment.

Conduct equipment sizing and selection for various units, including reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, pumps, compressors, and separators.

Perform line sizing, pressure drop calculations, and utility load estimation to ensure optimal system performance.

Apply HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL studies; actively participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities to enhance safety protocols.

Conduct feasibility studies, process optimization, and debottlenecking of existing operations, including external manufacturing sites.

Oversee technology transfer from R&D to pilot plant, ensuring comprehensive data capturing during scale-up trials.

Troubleshoot process issues and propose data-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Ensure timely and compliant technology transfer and scale-up from laboratory/pilot to commercial production.

Utilize simulation tools such as Aspen Plus and Mix-IT; explore new technologies including flow reactors, Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTR), and Plug Flow Reactors (PFR)

Seamless technology transfer from R&D to pilot plant and commercial plant.

Prior involvement in tech transfer from R&D to plant, and commissioning in Multi-purpose Plant /Commercial plant.

Exceptional stakeholder management, cross-functional leadership, and communication skills.

Knowledge of automation integration (DCS/SCADA/Batch Control Systems) and their interface with process design.

WHO YOU ARE:

B.Tech/M.Tech/Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from a reputed Indian Indian or international institute with more than 10 years of industrial experience

Experience in process scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory to pilot and/or manufacturing scale and must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities

Lead the design and development of chemical processes for new and existing products in a multipurpose plant environment.

Experience building and applying first-principal models (e.g., reaction kinetics, mass transfer, distillations, crystallization, filtration, drying, ) with proficiency across several modelling platforms

Interpretation of Process safety data including RC1eDSC/ARC/ARSST/TSU/Powder safety, PAT,for process understanding and process control is desirable

High assertiveness, enjoy working in a team and the ability to guide and develop employees

Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve results

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projects in a multi-disciplinary international team

Ability to effectively challenge the status quo and underlying assumptions to discover innovations, and the ability to turn ideas into results

Experience in fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, Advance agro intermediate manufacturing.

Experience in greenfield/brownfield projects and plant commissioning.
