Job Description:
The employee performs highly technical and specialized functions. The employee reviews, analyzes, codes, and schedules surgical procedures in the centralized scheduling department. The primary function of this position is to work with the centralized scheduling surgical pool orders, WQM surgical procedure orders, and any other resources where requests for surgical procedures are sent to the centralized scheduling department to ensure all perioperative procedures are placed on the perioperative scheduling board correctly and timely. They will be the primary source for any communication that needs to occur between the perioperative team and the appropriate clinical staff in the surgical clinics both at MCCH and outside providers.
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Two or three years of experience in a medical office, hospital, imaging facility or related office setting, with customer service and keyboard skills
Minimum Work Experience
Completion of high school, or equivalent. Minimum of two years of work experience as surgical coder, a surgical medical transcriptionist, a surgical medical assistant or an LPN who has worked primarily in a surgical/clinical setting specifically as these roles relate to the ordering of procedures for the provider.
