Position Summary:
Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Digital Content Specialist position. The Digital Content Specialist will work with the Director of Digital Marketing and other members of the marketing team to create, manage and improve digital content that supports the University’s growth and enrollment goals. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of Franklin’s public-facing websites, which includes constructing new content and webpages, reviewing and executing content updates and monitoring site health and performance. The specialist will play a lead role with website projects by working with cross-functional teams – such as IT, UX, admissions and others – to gather requirements, assist in testing and development and ensure timely delivery of all project deliverables. Supporting digital marketing activities, including content marketing initiatives, SEO projects and website personalization, will also be key areas of focus for this position. Strong interpersonal skills and previous experience working with website content management systems such as Drupal are preferred. Knowledge of content marketing concepts, fundamental SEO principles and website analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console) are preferred.
This role will work an onsite hybrid schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day operations associated with the Franklin website, including reviewing, revising and publishing website updates submitted via the University’s content management system (Drupal).
Monitor and manage the intake process for digital marketing requests, ensuring timely communication with requesters, requirements gathering and task execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the University’s network of website content editors and provide technical and training support as needed.
Coordinate with IT and web development teams on product enhancements, break/fix issues and the development of new functionality within our content management system.
Collaborate with shareholders, external departments and other teams in marketing (creative, communications, etc.) to successfully manage and execute website projects.
Manage and coordinate activities associated with content marketing production, including topic and subject matter identification and ensuring timely review and publishing of new content.
Support SEO initiatives and projects by conducting keyword research, monitoring organic performance and completing reporting as necessary.
Facilitate annual reviews of the Franklin website and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure all web content is up-to-date and accurate.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or another related discipline.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
Prior working experience with content management systems (CMS), preferably Drupal.
General understanding of fundamental SEO principles and content marketing strategies and processes.
Previous experience with website analytics tools, such as Google Analytics and Search Console, and SEO tools, such as SEMRush and Moz.
Account or project management experience.
Self-starter and ability to execute tactically with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and project management software.
Solid understanding of the importance of marketing and a strong brand.
Highly detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Ability to work within a complex team environment, collaborating with multiple managers, when necessary.
