We are seeking out the best on-site event professionals to join our Catering department to help us provide inspiration and expertise, and ensure every detail is flawlessly executed enabled by best-in-class food and beverage offerings!
The Catering Event Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Catering Sales Manager. The Catering Event Coordinator will finalize wedding and social event business while maximizing the event space and upselling food & beverage enhancements to meet/exceed sales goals. The Catering Event Coordinator must have a thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions; effective communication skills, ability to negotiate, influence and upsell professionals and/or prospective hotel guests. The Catering Event Coordinator will act as a liaison between the customer and Catering Sales Manager to provide direction and supervision during execution of wedding and social event banquet functions, directly serving wedding and social event customers in a proactive manner coordinating logistics, food and beverage, public meeting space, special client needs and billing processes.
All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resorts policies, practices and procedures.
Job Duties
Assists Catering Sales Manager with managing catering related opportunities with significant revenue potential.
Supports the Catering Department with Administrative Functions.
Actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue
Drives customer/guest loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer/guest experience.
Conducts scheduled site tours of the Hotel for clients who have secured social events or wedding business.
Communicates regularly with key wedding planners, social contacts, vendors and other industry support.
Provides accurate and concise information to all departments and communicates with the hotel team to disseminate details of upcoming weddings and social events.
Utilizes creative skills to provide innovative set-ups and menus for clients.
Schedules and conducts tastings with wedding planners, social event clients, culinary chefs and banquet teams
Assists Catering Sales Manager with catering sales inquiries, management of event space, client amenities and attends management & sales meetings when requested
Partners with clients and wedding planners from the planning through execution phases of wedding or social event, efficiently responding to clients and wedding planner communications.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services and new ideas
Stays abreast of property goals in order to create, support and present departmental goals to executive leadership
Continues to learn and be on the forefront of new technology for the hotel industry.
Creates ways to further enrich the guest experience by continuously reviewing, implementing and refining procedures to ensure every opportunity to offer extraordinary guest experiences while maintaining a culture of smiles, retention of luxury standards
Proactively seeks guest feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves.
Manage guest requests and own all complaints; resolve issues immediately.
Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments.
Foster a management team that possesses and delivers key strategies of guest service, employee relations, team cooperation, financial responsibility and asset management
Ensures all accounting, payroll and employee relations matters are handled in compliance with company policy
Perform other functions as needed
Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Sunseeker Resorts performs criminal background checks on all candidates. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years' experience in Catering Sales, Weddings, Food and Beverage or related professional area
Other Minimum Requirements
Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of Salesforce /Delphi systems a plus
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines
Must possess mature personal discretion and sound judgment
Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills
Excellent organizational, analytical and project management skills, with particular attention to quality and detail
Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
