Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Description

Salary: From $16.5 an hour

Job Summary:

As a Direct Support Professional at COD Health Care, you will provide care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and fostering their independence within a compassionate and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, and nutritional needs.

Implement and monitor individual service plans to promote the individual's well-being, independence, and social growth.

Provide transportation for clients to appointments, community events, and other activities.

Ensure the safety and well-being of clients, adhering to all agency policies and compliance with DODD regulations.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, behavioral observations, and incident reports.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to ensure best practices in client care and compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a healthcare-related field preferred.

Previous experience in a caregiving role or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to client-centered care.

Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

Must pass background checks and meet DODD employment eligibility criteria.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to physically assist clients, which may include lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.

Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
