Associate Civil / Structural Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an Associate Civil / Structural Engineer to support N3B in a direct role! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

Support field investigations and assessments.

Collect data and gather information or documents.

Perform standard computations or analysis.

Prepare drawings and visual aids.

Perform occasional drafting and/or figure development using technical software as required.

Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks.

Assist in the design of various types of civil engineering activities which include but not limited to plan production, site layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and preparation of specifications.

Participate in the writing and the production of project reports, forms, policies and procedures.

Work under the direct guidance and mentorship of senior engineers.

Requirements

Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

Proven ability to work in and support a team environment.

High level of independence, confidence, and strong work ethic.

Strong problem-solving skills through the application of fundamental engineering principles.

Ability to effectively foster productive relationships with team members, clients, industry stakeholders, and regulators.

Excellent written and verbal communication; a great listener with prompt, polished, and specific responses.

Welcomes feedback and find ways to perform work better, are determined, organized, and detail oriented.

Ability to understand and apply industry codes and standards.

Desired Skills

EIT Certification is a plus.

Experience with Autodesk design platforms, preferably Civil3D.

About the Site

N3B manages the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy Environmental Management’s Los Alamos Field Office, which is responsible for cleaning up contamination that resulted from LANL operations before 1999 and packaging and shipping radioactive and hazardous waste off-site for permanent disposal (n3b-la.com).
