Purpose of Position:

Manage the day-to-day operation of the hospital according to established plans, standard operating procedures, and legal

and regulatory requirements. Assist the Chief Executive Office in developing, implementing, and monitoring of operating

plans, goals, and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Optimize the hospital's financial and human resources by administering all day-to-day operations in a quality and cost

conscious manner, ensuring that decisions are sound, fair, and consistent with the goals of the organization and

according to various national and local statutes.

2. Help ensure the achievement of goals by continuously monitoring the organizations' performance against established

development, financial and work force plans.

3. Ensure the effective management of the facility's resources by recruiting and retaining highly qualified individuals,

establishing and monitoring management development plans and programs for department heads, and

communicating expectations on a regular basis. Provide goal-oriented direction to subordinates; assist with problem solving as need arises and notify individuals promptly when adjustments or problems are perceived.

4. Ensure that the highest possible quality of care is delivered to the hospital's patients and clients by continuously

monitoring quality assurance plans and procedures and establishing programs to improve quality whenever possible.

5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the medical staff ensuring that their needs and concerns

are addressed promptly and effectively.

6. Carry out marketing and community relations plans and objectives. Maintain sensitivity to the needs of the various

client groups and identifies new business opportunities whenever possible. Ensures that the financial operations of

the hospital are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner.

7. Ensure a high level of morale and esprit de corps among and between hospital, medical staff, and clientele by

providing direct, open lines of communications throughout the organization. Maintain a high level of visibility in the

facility and actively participate in team-building programs and other employee activities.

8. Attend promptly to the administrative details of the position including the signing of documents, preparations of

reports, completion of performance appraisals and other employee- related actions.

9. Ensure that all operations of the hospital are carried out in an ethical responsible manner.

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

1. Make all daily operating decisions of the hospital according to established plans, policies, and standard operating

procedures. Refer issues which could severely impact the hospital's reputation or financial condition to the Chief

Executive Officer.

2. Recommend future plans, programs, and changes to same to the Chief Executive Officer.

3. Establish policies for department heads so that decisions on specific daily operational issues can be delegated in an

effective manner.

4. Resolve internal and external conflicts and investigates complex problems or issues posing significant financial or

legal impact, e.g., malpractice, ethical issues, or patient / staff / physician complaints.

Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree in health care administration or equivalent; MBA or MHA preferred.

• At least five years of progressively responsible administrative and management experience in a health care

environment.
