Job DescriptionScope of Position:The Circulation Technology Division is responsible for providing extracorporeal support procedures for patients undergoing heart surgery, liver transplantation, other surgical procedures requiring intraoperative auto-transfusion, intraoperative chemotherapeutic procedures, and various intraoperative monitoring and diagnostic procedures in the operating room environment. The division is responsible for providing cardiac support procedures including intra-aortic balloon support and other forms of ventricular assist for patients in the operating room and intensive care setting. The division is responsible for providing technical support for monitoring procedures in the intensive care settings. The divisions normal staffing hours are 0630- 1800, Monday through Friday, with extended coverage as needed. Support from the division is available on a 24 hour basis outside of normal staffing hours on an on-call basis. Extended shifts and on-call shifts are rotated amongst the team. Position Summary:The Perfusionist provides extracorporeal circulatory support procedures for patients principally in the operating room or intensive care setting. Additionally, these personnel provide technical support for invasive monitoring procedures throughout the hospitalMinimum Education RequiredBachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in circulation technologyRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Allied Health with training in cardiovascular perfusion, monitoring instrumentation, and organ preservation.Certification eligible required.On going: Demonstrates competence and growth in technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
