Job Summary:
Clean and maintain University assets per the standard set forth by the Manager of Custodial Services. The Custodian might also be responsible for driving the trash truck or department van. This position is full-time, 12-months, reporting to the Manager of Custodial Operations.
This position requires overtime week-end work when there are weekend sporting events or other special events on campus. The employee who holds this position may be required to work multiple week-ends in a row, depending on the situation.
Hours: This position is third shift from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour (plus $1.00 shift differential for 3rd shift)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Disposal of trash
Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas
Sweep, mop, and buff floors
Maintain aesthetic appearance of entrance to building
Make sure custodial closet is fully stocked and organized
Strip and wax floors as needed
Report facility issues to Facility Maintenance Office
Prep resident halls for each semester

Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks
English proficiency is required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma with 1 year direct and 2 years indirect experience
Prior floor care experience Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Valid state driver's license
Must be in sound physical condition
Stockroom or warehouse
High noise environment
High dust, dirt, and grease environment
Requires extensive safety training
Exposure to moving machinery
Alternative work schedule may be required
Exposure to chemicals
Requires protective devices
Occasional lifting 25-50 lbs.
Typically standing or walking

Selected applicants will be responsible for providing the University with clearances appropriate to the position. These clearances include the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check. Additionally, upon an acceptance of an offer of employment, this position will require a Motor Vehicle Report and a Physical Lift Examination.
All employment is provisional for 90 days.
During this 90-day period, custodians are not eligible for benefits and cannot join the Teamsters Union.
