5/1/25 SUPERVISOR: Principal MINISTRY VISION: Aquinas Catholic Community School is a growing, vibrant, multi-cultural Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade educational community that forms disciples of Christ though the practice of faith and the pursuit of knowledge. The Dean of Catholic Identity is seen as a spiritual leader who joyfully models the virtues of faith, prudence, temperance, courage, justice, and humility. The main role would be to interact with students and parents to build strong, trusting relationships. They would also oversee and support those who supervise students and all aspects of student life in conjunction with the Principal.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP: • Displays and practices the Christian values expected of Catholic educators. Serves as a role model for Gospel values for students and families. • Collaborate with the Pastor, Associate Pastor, Director of Evangelization, and Director of Religious Education to integrate Catholic teachings and traditions into school life. • Be prayerful, faith-filled, and committed to spiritual growth. • Create an environment for faith and moral development. • Integrate gospel values and Christian principles into the curriculum. Apply church documents and religious resources in education. • Foster the spiritual growth of the school community. • Link the school with other Catholic schools. • Articulate and direct the Catholic education vision. • Recognize and accommodate cultural and religious differences. • Promote and uphold the Catholic identify of the school in all aspects of its operation. • Encourage faith formation for students, faculty, and staff through prayer, liturgical celebrations and retreats. • Direct/prepare for grade level school Masses. Potential coordination of parish "school family Masses" as directed by Principal/Pastor. • Prepare and develop Catholic Schools week events, as well as student/parish Mass. ACADEMIC AND CURRICULAR
LEADERSHIP FOR DIVERSE LEARNERS/ISP's/504's • Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum to ensure high academic standards. • Plan instructional programs aligned with the school's philosophy and mission. • Encourage instruction that meets diverse student needs and abilities. Page 2 of 4 • Direct/coordinate school and government programs such as NWEA, MAP Growth, Cognia Accreditation, High School Admissions, Title 2, Title 3 and State of Indiana grants. • Participates as needed in Individual Service Plan meetings and student support teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Assumes the duties of the Principal in the absence of the Principal. • Supervises and evaluates the performance of designated personnel. • Coordinates interview and admission processes for potential new students. • Supervises and evaluates the aides in the classrooms and recess/lunch duties. • Assists the Principal in the scheduling of lunch/recess monitoring. • Leads monthly meetings with support staff/aides/lunch/recess monitors to educate, support, communicate, and problem solve challenges. • Works with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students. • Works with the Principal in developing plans for emergency situations in collaboration with staff and public safety agencies. • Participates in professional and spiritual development meetings, trainings and retreats to improve administrative skills, maintain knowledge of the schools adopted classical curriculum, and to grow spiritually. • Direct/prepare for grade level Masses. • Prepare and develop Catholic Schools Weeks events, and the student/parish Mass.
STUDENT/PARENTAL RELATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with Diocesan and School policies, and state laws. Receive referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement. Responds to and resolves parent, student and staff concerns and complaints. Serves on discipline or expulsion panels as assigned. • Keeps students/families informed about school policies, procedures, and activities. • Maintain records of student discipline issues. • Follow-up with students who are struggling with student relationships or students who have been teased or bullied. • Work with school counselor and principal to provide appropriate interventions when required. • Work with the school counselor and principal to acquaint individuals with appropriate agencies for resolution of problems. • Have meetings as needed with small groups of students that are struggling to get along. • Check in with parents of students who are struggling emotionally to offer them support. • Counsel students, offer advice, a listening ear and encouraging word. • Be a resource for parents to assist them in their role as the primary educators of their children. • Be proactive to potential situations rather than waiting to get involved. • Offer teachers support and resources for supporting student behavior or emotional wellbeing in the classroom. • Attend evening/weekend school events as required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, employees are required to stand, walk, stoop, talk, reach, feel, sit, climb, grasp, hear and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lift and move items up to thirty pounds. Hear and speak to make presentations, and exchange information in person and on the phone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed mostly in a school office and classroom settings. Employees are required to do extensive close computer work. Attendance at evening or weekend meetings may be required. Attendance at overnight conferences will be required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in the field of education or related field. Licensing: Current State of Indiana teaching license (or meet all requirements for a plan of study to obtain licensure). State certification in school administration preferred (or willingness to obtain). Religious Affiliation: Practicing Catholic required. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of Catholic school experience preferred. Proven leadership skills and the ability to inspire collaboration among diverse shareholders.
