Fingerprint Requirement - allow 7-10 days for processing - must be cleared BEFORE start Department: ECHO/CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER General Certification Requirements (BLS, etc.) BLS required Specialty Certifications: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) VS (Vascular Sonographer) RVT (Registered Vascular Tech) Do they require additional certifications: AE (adult echo) or PE (pediatric echo)? CCI or ARDMS, do not have to have pediatric or fetal cert but do have to have CCI or ARDMS How many scanners/rooms does this dept have? This is one of our outreach clinics and sonographer will only be covering this clinic. Will they have to float/cover any other areas? Sonographer will not be required to float to other clinics or hospitals. Common types of imaging/studies performed & Job Duties Pediatric and cardiac, would NOT need to float to do other modalities. Mostly congenital cardiac in pediatric clinic, does not have to be trained in TEE. Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have pediatric cardiac sonography experience, does NOT need to perform MFM or fetal studies. Average # of studies per day between 8-10 per day EMR &/or PACS (Picture Archive & Communication System: software & hardware) do they use Epic Syngo dynamics Department Specific Equipment Philips ie33 and/or Philips Epiq 7 Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech? This sonographer is the only sonographer in the clinic. Will report directly to Clinic Nurse Manager, Do they use RRA's (Registered Radiology Assistants)? Medical Office Asst that help to triage and do EKGs and holters/devices in the clinic Radiologist in-house? Two in-house Pediatric Cardiologists read Echos Do they have to start IV's? (if applicable to the department) no Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 8-430 M-F Weekend Requirements none Holiday Requirements none Call or Standby requirement? None Response time? n/a Scrub Color/Dress Code: n/a Are scrubs provided? clean, professional scrubs of any color Department specific orientation variable dependent on experience, PRN senior sonographers would train and view scans, travelers will be given protocols to review. Train to Epic and Syngo as needed Additional Notes Our mission is to provide the best quality to the children of MS, we are only children's hospital in the state, it is very important that they provide exceptional care and provide a great patient experience Additional Questions how do you handle a child who is not cooperative? what would you do? Distraction, discuss with parents what is helpful with distraction techniques. Discuss with ordering physician need for sedated Echo, etc
