JOB TITLE: Program Chair, Early Childhood Education
SCHOOL: Education
REPORTS TO: Dean, School of Education

POSITION SUMMARY: Supports the dean by providing internal oversight of the Early Childhood Education Program. This includes strategic planning, curriculum planning, budget planning, engaging faculty in program review, and managing personnel, including the hiring, training, and oversight of adjuncts.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Record of successful higher education teaching and administrative experience
Earned doctoral degree in appropriately related discipline from a regionally accredited institution
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent the academic program to the dean of the School of Education
Plan curriculum and academic content for the academic program, including scheduling
Oversee maintenance or pursuit of program accreditation, where applicable
Engage faculty in completing the application process for NAEYC accreditation
Selective teaching responsibilities as appropriate (3 credit hours of teaching per semester while pursuing NAEYC accreditation)
Engage faculty in program review and quality improvement initiatives for majors offered by the academic program
Provide input for academic program budget
Manage academic program personnel as assigned, including workload and the hiring, training, and oversight of adjuncts
Update/maintain course rotations, faculty assignments and transfer credit equivalency review
Promote an inclusive RCU through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Keep abreast of current trends and issues in related professions and higher education; participate in state, regional and national meetings as appropriate
Participate in professional and civic activities related to professional competencies
Participate in selective scholarship endeavors as appropriate
Actively pursue grants and outside funding sources for major projects
Performs other duties as assigned
