Description/Summary

Full-time 911 Dispatcher position. Starting Wage is $24.54-$27.76 (depending on experience and qualifications) plus regular step increases. position is 40 hours per week, rotating schedule. Progressive wage scale and fringe benefits are included. This job requires the availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 911 Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION:

* Answering emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services county-wide.

* Determine nature and location of emergency, priority

* Dispatch the appropriate agencies in accordance with well-established agency policies and procedures

* Provide detailed call information to responding units, maintains status and awareness of all unit locations

* Maintain a log of all aforementioned information.

* Assist the public in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office.

* Perform inquiries and criminal history checks for law enforcement county-wide through NCIC and NCJIS systems,

* Collect statistical data for reports, and updates and ensures the accuracy of the database.

* Operate the TIME System and other databases.

* Enter, clear, maintain and validate agency warrants, coordinate efforts with other agencies and maintain statistics on warrants and

extraditions.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum 20 years of age; U.S. citizen

* No felony or domestic crime convictions

* High school diploma or equivalent.

Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented and have the ability to work independently of others. In addition to basic office, computer and written skills, an ability to promptly verbally communicate accurate information in stressful situations is essential.

Upon employment, completion of an on-the-job training program and related recertification requirements are necessary.

Successful applicants may be required to complete an oral interview, written test and background investigation. These requirements may be waived if currently employed and performing the described related duties.
