Position Summary

As a Delivery Dispatcher at Hartville Hardware, you play a vital role in keeping our operations running smoothly by coordinating and scheduling deliveries of building materials, hardware, and lumber. Managing driver routes, ensuring on-time deliveries, and serving as the key communication link between drivers, customers, and the store are all part of your daily responsibilities. In this fast-paced role, problem-solving and organization are essential to providing efficient service and keeping projects on track.

Key Responsibilities

Route Planning and Dispatching:

Schedule and dispatch delivery drivers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of orders.

Optimize routes based on delivery priorities, traffic conditions, and driver availability.

Monitor delivery progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate unforeseen delays.

Communication:

Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, providing directions, order details, and support during deliveries.

Communicate delivery updates and resolve issues with customers in a professional and courteous manner.

Coordinate with store teams, yard team members, and customers to ensure accurate and complete orders.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of delivery schedules, driver logs, and completed deliveries.

Track and report delivery performance metrics, including on-time delivery rates and customer feedback.

Problem-Solving:

Address and resolve delivery challenges, such as traffic delays, vehicle issues, or incomplete orders.

Collaborate with drivers, store teams, and management to implement solutions that enhance delivery efficiency.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure drivers comply with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.

Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate with fleet management to address maintenance needs.Qualifications

Education:

Additional training or certifications in logistics or dispatching is a plus.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in logistics, dispatching, or a related role, preferably in the hardware, lumber, or building materials industry.

Familiarity with delivery dispatch software and routing tools preferred.

Skills:

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and delivery software.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in an office setting with occasional visits to the yard or delivery sites.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
