Role Overview

The DevOps engineer is responsible for the optimization and design of MediaAlpha's AWS Cloud Environment. This role shall advise on improvements to the overall architecture of the platform while also leading DevOps-oriented projects that support MediaAlpha's technologies.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with development.

Update existing code and scripts (Perl, Python, etc.), as well as resolving script errors.

Managing installation and configuration of solutions to keep the environment up to date.

Support and collaborate closely with counterparts on the Technology, and Security team.

Partner to improve application, system, security, and database processes.

Identify and automate manual processes as discovered.

Maintain the cloud environment.

Support Cloud operations including management of day-to-day administration, planning, remediation issues, and timely resolution of issues for the cloud environment.

Monitors and improves the cloud health, automation, and expense processes.

Overseeing routine maintenance procedures and diagnostic tests.

Respond to ticket requests and escalated incidents as required.

Document processes and maintain performance metrics.

Guide overall operations.

Architect cloud environments within the Amazon platform.

Mentor others on DevOps process and methodology.

Conforming to best practices in cloud administration and cybersecurity.

Contributing expertise on information system options, risk, and operational impact.

Requirements

AWS Certifications is a plus

At least 3 years of experience working in cloud and DevOps operations.

At least 3 years of experience with Linux Administration

At least 2 years of experience writing scripts with Bash

2+ years of experience writing Perl, Python, or other scripting languages is a plus

At least 1 year experience with web applications and their backend function(s)

At least 1 year of experience with Terraform/Ansible deployment

Ability to install and configure software, gather test-stage data and perform debugging.

Aid software deployment by writing script updates and running diagnostics.

A willingness to be hands-on with SQL databases and their function.

Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Familiarity with:

Automation / DevOps - Packer, Terraform, Ansible, RPM, Docker, CI/CD, GIT

AWS - EC2, IAM, RDS or Aurora, VPC, Route53, CloudWatch, S3, Billing

Bash, Shell, Perl, Python, PHP, Amazon Linux, Apache

Work Location:

Hybrid: 1-2 days/week in-office on Tuesdays / Thursdays.
