MBS is hiring a Weld Engineer in Middletown, OH. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct research and development to create and improve fabrication processes, welding equipment, and techniques, and discover new welding patterns.
Prepare technical reports based on R&D and preventive maintenance.
Establish welding procedures for production teams, addressing material specifications, pre/post-heating, complex alloys, and critical joints.
Evaluate new welding technologies for possible application to current production processes.
Oversee inspections to ensure compliance with welding procedures, national codes, and personnel certifications.
Collaborate with engineering teams, agencies, and clients to offer technical advice and solutions.
Lead experimental welding to assess new equipment, techniques, and materials.
Ensure welding department meets NADCAP and customer requirements, lead weld audits and certifications.
Research, evaluate, and recommend capital equipment for welding; manage project implementation.
Provide training and certification for welders and inspectors, maintaining up-to-date documentation.
Analyze engineering designs for welding requirements and review welding procedures.
Manage weld procedure qualifications and failure analyses for welding issues.
REQUIREMENTS
5-year college or university program certificate; or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training.
Strong knowledge of semi-automated GTAW weld processes; knowledge of resistance and laser welding preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret technical documents and regulations.
Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions to public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to varied situations.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, walk, and talk or hear.
Specific hand/eye coordination abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and practice safety awareness.
