Job Title:Research Faculty - Department of Dermatology (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Department:Medicine Dermatology

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a basic or translational scientist to join the Department of Dermatology at the Associate Professor or Professor level. Academic rank commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will be an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD established faculty member with a track record of demonstrated scholarly productivity and grant funding, with a dedication to advancing research and innovation. If applying with an MD, MD/PhD, DO, or DO/PhD board certification/board eligibility is required. The individual will contribute to the Department's vision while upholding the organization's mission and values. The responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to research and training residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students.

The Department of Dermatology offers comprehensive dermatologic care serving Ohio and beyond.By joining our faculty, you will have excellent opportunities for advancement, while working with an exceptional and growing group of dermatologists. Faculty members provide dermatologic care, research, and education. There are opportunities and support to pursue roles in leadership, education, and research for those who are interested.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding;

Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation;

Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives.

Collaborates with clinical colleagues

Requirements

Doctorate degree (PhD, MD, or DO) with or without additional advanced degrees (MS, etc.).

If clinically trained, must be Board eligible/certified in Dermatology and eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.

Proven track record of scholarly achievement and research funding.

Must have R01-level funding or equivalent extramural research support.

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
