About the Role

Walton Arts Center is seeking a Public Relations Coordinator to join our Communications team. This entry-level role is perfect for a strong writer who is enthusiastic about live events, storytelling, and community engagement. You’ll help us connect audiences to our performances through strategic, engaging content and public-facing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Write and edit content for curtain speeches, blogs, magazine columns, and press releases

Support outreach to young adults, students, and early-career professionals

Assist with media and social media content capture at events

Coordinate booth materials and staffing for community engagement opportunities

Represent Walton Arts Center and Walmart AMP at public events

Collaborate with PR and Marketing teams on content and event execution

Requirements

Highschool diploma or GED required

Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Journalism, PR, English, or Marketing (preferred)

0–3 years of relevant experience (internships accepted)

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Comfortable using AP Style and willing to provide writing samples

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work evenings/weekends and in high-energy environments

Preferred Skills

Bilingual (a plus, not required)

Experience with media relations or event coordination

Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to grow professionally

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Able to work extended periods standing or walking indoors and outdoors

Must have a working smartphone and be willing to use it for work tasks
