Computer Technician
Position Function:
Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.
Documents, maintains, upgrades, and replaces hardware and software systems, and assists in
implementing custom configurations. Provides technical assistance to instructional, administrative, and
clerical personnel as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned
Provides technical support (hardware, corporation-supported software, and network operations) on Chrome OS, Microsoft, Apple (iPadOS and macOS), VMware vSphere, and Linux platforms for instructional, administrative, and clerical personnel in all buildings.
Assists with computer installation, configuration and maintenance, hardware repair, software setup, network cabling, wireless infrastructure, hardware cleaning, testing and repairs.
Able to build and setup a new personal computer.
Able to install an operating system (Microsoft servers and workstations, Chrome OS, Apple macOS and iPadOS, and Linux).
Able to install, update, and trouble-shoot software and hardware.
Assists with support of district wide infrastructure.
Troubleshoots workstations and associated peripherals.
Manages servers – install, back-up and updates.
Assists with maintaining Internet and technology appliances.
Assists with installing and maintaining instructional technology e.g. printers, interactive white boards, projectors, document cameras, telephones, tablets, etc.
Perform repairs on student and staff Chromebooks.
Conducts and participates in technology training for groups and individuals.
Keeps personal technological knowledge and skills current and up-to-date.
Maintains confidentiality of all material and information.
Maintains appropriate appearance.
Maintains own regular and prompt attendance.
Promotes good public relations for the school district and community.
Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the school corporation.
May be required to work hours other than those designated as “regular working hours.”
Assists with other technology support-related tasks as needed.
Effectively completes other job duties as assigned by the Director of Technology. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, stand, walk, and talk orhear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach forward and above the head.
The employee will frequently push, pull, or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds such as computer equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to tell differences among colors.
The employee regularly interacts with administrators, teachers, and other staff. Qualification Requirements:

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in two or more of the following areas: Chromebook and Chrome OS, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Windows 10/11, VMware vSphere (server virtualization), Apple iPadOS devices as well as macOS, Previous experience providing support for varied technologies, Industry current certifications (A+, Microsoft, Cisco, HP), Networking services (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, routing, OU management) Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have dependable transportation to travel between schools.
Ability to manage time, be self-motivated, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work with minimal direction.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and school board policies.
Ability to work in a team environment, collaborating with other technology staff members.
Experience with Google Workspace Admin console preferred (not required).
