Downingtown Area School District is excited to announce openings for Curriculum Leaders as follows:

Curriculum Leader - Guidance: Assignment is offered without release time from regular teaching duties.

Job Summary:

The Curriculum Leader - Teacher is a professional staff employee appointed to assist in the leadership and coordination of the development, implementation, review, and monitoring of the content area curriculum assigned. This position also facilitates and supports district and building use of data to inform differentiated instruction and educational programming.

Qualifications:

Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and hold a proper Pennsylvania certification for the position

Demonstrates superior knowledge in the area of assignment

Possesses a positive attitude toward the teaching profession, administration, service to the district, and importance and purpose of the education program

Proficiency in use of current technology for individual or group demonstration or communication

Must be able to flex and vary hours to accommodate needs of students, parents, and other teachers

Possesses effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations

Ability to move about to access various locations

Possesses effective communication skills to provide accurate information to others and to obtain, give, and follow directions

Demonstrates ability to provide good judgment, planning, and human relations skills, as well as be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility

Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements

Ensures equity and parity of district-wide curriculum, program and curriculum resources

Gathers information for and communicates, consulting with appropriate supervisor, implementation of district-wide and department-wide initiatives

Serves as subject matter expert in matters of curriculum, content area standards, and instructional strategies.

Compensation:

Payment for supplemental District leadership positions can be found in section 4.9 District and Building Leadership Compensation of the current collective bargaining agreement, which can be accessed by clicking here.

Classification:

The position is classified as a Non-Teaching Professional for all Curriculum Leaders who have equal to or greater than 0.5 FTE of release time per Act 13, and are supervised by the appropriate Curriculum Supervisor. For all Curriculum Leader positions whose release time is equal to or less than 0.4 FTE, they are classified as a classroom teacher per Act 13, and report to the building principal.
