What You'll Do:
Ohio Department of Public Safety - Director's Office/Information Technology (Infrastructure & Database)
Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223
Work hours: 8\:00am - 5\:00pm
Supervise information technology staff whose primary duties involve writing, analyzing & designing computer programs &/or systems integration for mainframe computer or open system:
Lead a team of information technology professionals supporting the cloud computing environment for the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS); Establish & enforce unit policies & procedures; Conduct staff meetings as necessary;
Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities & work direction, coach staff to foster development, monitor staff activities to ensure quality customer service & information technology security, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline, pre-screen applications & participate in interviews);
If assigned, supervise other technical staff &/or direct & oversee contract staff involved in the development of complex & specialized programs;
Recommend training seminars &/or classes for staff;
Assist staff in resolving information technology architecture problems & answer technical questions;
Serve as a technical & strategic lead in the sustainment & support of cloud-based system operations;
Evaluate system requirements & recommend improvements, migrations, & enhancements;
Provide guidance on cloud service options (e.g., AWS, Azure), including architecture design, deployment models, security, & cost implications;
Lead planning & execution of cloud-based system support, operational management coordination, & process documentation;
Oversee & ensure proper configuration, deployment, monitoring, & support of critical cloud systems;
Establish & document risk management factors across all cloud- based environments; Review program & systems documentation & test results;
Compile & report on the information acquired in the monitoring of systems supported, & effectively disseminate summarized information;
Recommend & execute actions that will ensure the effective operation of ODPS systems;
Participate in initiatives that improve the efficiency of the Information Technology Office, ODPS, & the State;
Communicate & coordinate continuous improvement & alignment with best practices;
Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves operations of computer terminal for long periods of time; overtime may be required; travel may be required
which may include overnight stay; may be required to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
This position may be filled by lay-off or certification eligibility list if applicable
This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123\: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). Whoever fills this position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.

-Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science, or completion of undergraduate core coursework in any academic major which included at least one course in each of the following\: advanced-level computer programming language (for example, Cobol, Delphi, Java, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, Pl 1, SAS PCS, Pacbase, Full Visual Suite, Designer 2000, Developer 2000, C, C++, Visual C, ECL, or Visual Studio), logic-based mathematics, data base concepts (for example, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Paradox, Sybase, IMS DB, DB2, Cache, DMS, or RDMS), computer systems analysis & design, & basic data processing concepts; additional 5 1/2 years (66 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting.; 12 mos. exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.
