Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

Document exports by preparing bills of lading, air waybills, export declarations, certificates of origin, and related documents.

Follow export standards, procedures, and regulations to generate freight transfer and support with appropriate documentation.

Originate documentation with shippers’ Letter of Instruction (SLI) and/or Letter of Credit for accuracy of a) shipper/consignee marks and numbers; b) calculations of weight, volume, dimensions, inland cartage, and freight charges/goods description/clauses and delivery terms and check Third Party documents for correctness.

Effectively apply up to date records on tariff/contract rates provided by available carriers – airlines, oceanic inland/interstate trucking, etc.

Provide quotes to customers.

Negotiate rates with carriers – airlines, oceanic inland/interstate trucking, etc.

Consistently track and communicate with customers and carriers on status of shipments, as well as suggest and implement corrective action in case of issues that may arise.

Job Type: Direct hire, M-F, Full-time, 100% in office

Pay: $50,000-65,000 annually

Qualifications:

2+ years’ experience handling air export shipments at a freight forwarder

Understanding of air export processes and procedures

Knowledge of carrier contracts, tariffs, federal and state government carrier regulations, export licenses, customs, and Carnet procedures
