Position SummaryPosition Summary

The Solution Architect position is a front-line technical position responsible for supporting the customers and sales of the local data center. Responsibilities include understanding and developing technical solutions for customers, advising the local and remote sales team on RFQs, understanding and reporting on technical trends in the industry, working with the Infrastructure Services and Product Management teams on new product launch, training sales staff on company products and services, and providing full customer satisfaction. The candidate must have strong I/T sales engineering experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Solutions Engineering

Technical face of the company to support sales and customers, including answering client technical questions during the sales process, evaluation requirements, proof of concept and architecture discussions for development and delivery of product solutions for RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs

Discovery and definition of customer requirements using a consultative selling approach to identify business issues, and design solutions that utilize all DartPoints products and services

Design solutions that align with customer requirements and document them through high-level architectural diagrams, detailed statements of work, and high-level project plans for complex, multi-stage deployments

Coordinate across internal teams to design, document, price and quote complex solutions for presentation to the customer

Regularly update management on deal status and raise issues for management attention

Able to travel throughout sales territory as needed to meet with prospects and customers and to represent DartPoints at public events such as partner events and webinars

Coordinate and communicate all post sales activities in CRM and other between the customer and local site operations and project management staff to ensure proper and effective transition of customer environment

Technical Marketing

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies

Provide key technical market insights and trends to the Infrastructure Services and Product Management teams

Trains staff on the company products and services

Work with Technical Product Manager for new product launch to the market

Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and quickly assimilating information

Related Work Experience: Minimum five years of technology, engineering, or related experience preferably in an architecture and delivery role. Three years of experience in Sales Engineering role, preferably within service providers offering colocation, private cloud, multi-tenant cloud, and other infrastructure-as-a-service solutions

Certifications: VMWare Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)/ Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) equivalent certifications preferred but not required

Required Technical Skills: Must have strong IT industry experience. Hands on Experience in three or more of the following technologies: Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery, IT System Administration, IP Networking (within a large-scale multi-tenant service provider preferred but not required), Information Security, Virtualization. Hands on experience with enterprise and service provider cloud platforms, such as Nutanix AHV and VMware Cloud Director. Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform a plus

Preferred But Not Required: Exposure to electrical provisioning and configuration, along with a high-level understanding of modern data center cooling systems, including liquid-assisted air cooling and direct-to-chip cooling technologies. Experience with deploying private AI hardware and infrastructure a plus

Platforms: VMware, Nutanix AHV, VEEAM, Zerto, Cisco, Fortinet, NetApp, Pure Storage

Other: Strong listening, oral & written communication skills, especially presentation skills to a large audience or 1:1 (planned and ad-hoc), strong time-management, task-prioritization, and note-taking abilities; PC proficiency with MS Word and Excel; Visio; PowerPoint, ConnectWise Sell/Manage and Adobe Acrobat.The following criteria apply to all positions:
