With a rich tradition of excellence, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our Finance team.
Position Overview
The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the Metropolitan Club by supporting the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and producing accurate financial reports. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and experience in hospitality or club accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all state and local compliance filings, including business licenses and alcohol permits
Manage employee benefits administration, including retirement plans, health insurance, and other benefit programs
Supervise the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll
Prepare and file all required sales tax returns and employment tax filings
Generate general ledger accounting entries
Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures in compliance with GAAP
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts
Assist with annual budget preparation and forecasting
Support the year-end audit process and work with external auditors
Supervise accounting staff, including accounts payable and receivable personnel
Provide financial analysis for special projects and capital improvements

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or private club industry
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Experience with point-of-sale systems and club management software preferred
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge of hospitality or club operations a plus
