Description:

The Scientist I is responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to support analytical workflows within Process Development and across the organization. The candidate will contribute to UPLC method development and evaluation, method transfer activities, design and execution of stability studies, preparation of technical reports, data analysis and presentation of results, and troubleshooting and maintaining analytical instrumentation.

Experience:

Requires a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline with 4-7 years of related experience or a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline with 13-15 years of related experience

Prior experience in oligonucleotide characterization is highly preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

Perform UPLC and LCMS analysis for the characterization of stereopure oligonucleotides across multiple projects/ targets

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation such as UPLC, LC-MS, and additional benchtop equipment

Author/ contribute to technical reports

Summarize/ present analytical findings at team or cross functional department meetings

Keep abreast of scientific literature and industry approaches to assist in solving advanced technical problems

Identify, evaluate, and procure analytical equipment and reagents

Assist with method transfer activities between internal laboratories and external sites

Prepare and ship test articles and associated documentation for pre-clinical studies

Provide support for high-throughput activities including training junior scientists, troubleshooting open-access equipment, and evaluating methods for new chemistries

Accurately and thoroughly document procedures and results using written and electronic notebooks and databases

Key Skills:

Understanding of analytical techniques such as UPLC and LC-MS

Familiarity with common chromatography acquisition and processing software

Effectively analyze, report, and communicate data

Effectively multitask and prioritize critical tasks

Ability to be highly productive and innovative in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and within a team to make scientifically sound decisions
