Design Engineer – Electromechanical Products
Midwest-based facility Hands-On Design + Lab Work HVAC, Transportation, Aerospace, Industrial Applications
We’re hiring a Design Engineer who’s equally comfortable at a CAD workstation as they are troubleshooting in a lab. This is a hybrid design/lab role supporting the development of electric heating systems across diverse industries—from aerospace to food service.

What You’ll Do
Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs, models, and basic electrical schematics
Select materials, components, and manufacturing processes with performance and cost in mind
Support prototype builds, testing setups, and product troubleshooting in a lab setting
Maintain BOMs, drawings, and part numbers in ERP (Epicor)
Lead or assist in DFMEA, validation activities, and cost-reduction initiatives
Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing to resolve product issues
Support product documentation, compliance testing, and customer-facing technical efforts
Manage engineering change notices (ECNs) and product updates across the lifecycle
Design + Lab Hybrid Role
Roughly 25–40% of your time will be spent in a lab environment. We’re looking for someone who believes that getting hands-on is critical to great design.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
1–4 years of product or design engineering experience
Experience with 2D and 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Knowledge of basic electromechanical systems and manufacturing processes
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with ERP systems and documentation (Epicor a plus)
Exposure to UL, NFPA, or related standards is helpful
Experience with FEA tools or design analysis is a plus
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (no sponsorship available)
