Description:

Design Engineer – Electromechanical Products

Midwest-based facility Hands-On Design + Lab Work HVAC, Transportation, Aerospace, Industrial Applications

We’re hiring a Design Engineer who’s equally comfortable at a CAD workstation as they are troubleshooting in a lab. This is a hybrid design/lab role supporting the development of electric heating systems across diverse industries—from aerospace to food service.

If you enjoy seeing your designs come to life and collaborating cross-functionally from concept to launch, this is a great opportunity to join a team focused on innovation, quality, and product performance.

What You’ll Do

Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD designs, models, and basic electrical schematics

Select materials, components, and manufacturing processes with performance and cost in mind

Support prototype builds, testing setups, and product troubleshooting in a lab setting

Maintain BOMs, drawings, and part numbers in ERP (Epicor)

Lead or assist in DFMEA, validation activities, and cost-reduction initiatives

Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing to resolve product issues

Support product documentation, compliance testing, and customer-facing technical efforts

Manage engineering change notices (ECNs) and product updates across the lifecycle

Design + Lab Hybrid Role

Roughly 25–40% of your time will be spent in a lab environment. We’re looking for someone who believes that getting hands-on is critical to great design.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

1–4 years of product or design engineering experience

Experience with 2D and 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred)

Knowledge of basic electromechanical systems and manufacturing processes

Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with ERP systems and documentation (Epicor a plus)

Exposure to UL, NFPA, or related standards is helpful

Experience with FEA tools or design analysis is a plus

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (no sponsorship available)

Exposure to full product lifecycle development
