This is a unique opportunity with an international Energy Transition company seeking a junior Process Engineer to join their team in Ohio.
This is a newly created position seeking someone with an Engineering degree and eagerness to learn. This is a development role looking and this person will play a key role in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of chemical processes. You will play a role in the simulation, fractionation, calculating heat and material balances, and process optimization to ensure the efficiency, safety, and reliability of their operations.
Overview:
Part of the team responsible for process design activities, including the development of PFD's, P&ID's, and process engineering calculations.
Provide process engineering support for capital projects, from concept development to commissioning and startup.
• Perform heat and material balances, equipment sizing, and hydraulic calculations to ensure optimal process performance.
Utilize simulation software, preferably HYSIS, to model and analyze process systems, evaluate different scenarios, and optimize process parameters.
Perform rigorous simulations and modeling to determine optimal operating conditions and separation efficiency.
Evaluate and select appropriate separation technologies and equipment based on process requirements and economic considerations.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fractionation, separation, and distillation processes.
Investigate and resolve complex process-related issues, analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, and proposing corrective actions.
Develop and implement process optimization strategies to improve process efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and research and development, to address process challenges and implement improvement initiatives.
Utilize statistical analysis and modeling techniques to identify process bottlenecks and develop innovative solutions.
Participate in project teams, working closely with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Develop process design documentation, including process descriptions, equipment specifications, and operating procedures.
Qualifications:
<3 years of experience preferably in manufacturing, refining, oil & gas, or similar
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Extensive experience in process engineering, preferably in the refining or chemicals industry.
Proficiency in process simulation software, preferably HYSIS, and experience with fractionation, heat and material balances, and process optimization.
Strong knowledge of process design principles, including PFDs, P&IDs, and process engineering calculations.
Experience with pyrolysis processes is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
