Elmya Energy is seeking a Director of Land Acquisition to lead the company’s land acquisition strategy and real estate functions. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in utility-scale solar, storage, and wind projects. The successful candidate will manage land acquisition efforts across multiple states, develop and implement strategic plans, negotiate land agreements, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits.
Main Functions:
Land Identification and Acquisition: Execute a comprehensive land acquisition strategy aligned with the organization’s renewable energy project goals. Identify suitable land parcels through market analysis and site assessments, and negotiate land contracts.
Title Research and Due Diligence: Conduct title searches to verify land ownership and mitigate potential risks. Oversee third-party title research.
Contract Management: Manage real estate aspects of land contracts, including lease agreements, option contracts, and easements. Coordinate with development and accounting on real estate payments.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities and stakeholders. Educate landowners and project stakeholders throughout the development process.
Professional Experience:
Experience: Minimum 10 years in land acquisition and title management, ideally within the renewable energy sector. Proven track record in negotiating and closing land agreements.
Real Estate & Title Management: Strong knowledge of land-use regulations, permitting processes, and real estate law.
Relationship Management: Excellent ability to engage with landowners, brokers, and key stakeholders.
GIS & Land Analysis Tools: Working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and related land management software.
Leadership & Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate teams, including external consultants.
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with landowners, explaining complex agreements in a straightforward manner.
Industry Network: Established relationships with real estate companies and land brokers.
Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Thrives in fast-paced environments, effectively balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Required Education:
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in real estate, law, environmental science, or a related field.
Professional License: Preferred but not required.
Technical Knowledge:
Software: Proficiency in ArcGIS or similar (Level 2), Microsoft Office Suite (Level 3).
Languages: Desirable spanish (Intermediate).
