The Role of the Litigation Paralegal
Step into a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where no two days are the same. From case inception through trial, this paralegal will be at the heart of the action, handling everything from discovery to trial prep. Hybrid flexibility is available, but in-person trial support is a must.
Responsibilities of the Litigation Paralegal
Draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, subpoenas, and trial documents
Conduct in-depth document searches and prepare deposition examination binders
Create and refine search terms for document production and review privilege and confidentiality issues
Summarize depositions, analyze medical records and billing, and prepare discovery responses
Build trial binders, draft jury questionnaires and instructions, and organize witness/exhibit lists
Perform factual and legal research to support attorneys in complex litigation
Attend trial
Qualifications for Litigation Paralegal
Paralegal certificate required (must meet Bus. & Prof. Code section 6450(c))
Minimum of three years’ litigation experience (civil litigation experience in both State and Federal courts is key)
Strong trial prep experience, actual trial attendance is a plus but not required
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to thrive under pressure
