Position Overview
Calian is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the procurement and3 management of Combat Support Equipment used by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) serving at home and abroad. This includes large deployable camps with various equipment such as power generation and distribution, water treatment, sea containers, fuel storage and distribution, soft-wall shelters and ancillary equipment and temporary infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Conducting and providing recommendations for technical studies to produce technical options, validate and assess options, assess technical risks and evaluate designs
Reviewing military standards, commercial standards, specifications and practices for incorporation into systems specifications
Producing draft technical evaluation plans
Generating, evaluating and providing recommendations for test plans, procedures and reports
Proposing, analyzing and providing recommendations for engineering change proposals, estimating costs and risks
Reviewing and providing recommendations on work proposals
Preparing specifications, conducting research and assisting in the development of SOWs for the procurement of systems, new projects and Repair and Overhaul contracts
Developing, assessing and providing recommendations on maintenance strategies, plans and support requirements
Reviewing and preparing recommendations to projects related to system engineering design and integration
Developing, reviewing and executing activities and plans for projects
Developing, performing reviews and providing comments and updates on project related documents as they apply to project activities
Completing technical reviews and providing reports for technical documentation submitted by project personnel
Evaluating and providing recommendations on engineering drawings and technical documentation from suppliers to ensure deliverables meet quality standards
Participating and providing expertise in discussions, reviews and meetings with Technical Authorities (TAs) and other DND representatives with regards to existing or proposed DND equipment and providing recommendations based on evaluations
Qualifications
Must hold a valid Secret (Level II) or higher Clearance with the Government of Canada
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Must have 10+ years of experience within the last 14 years writing three (3) or more Statement of Work (SOW) documents for the acquisition of military equipment
Must have 10+ years of experience within the last 14 years specifying technical requirements and conducting formal integrated testing in three (3) or more of the following types of military equipment housed in Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) certified shipping containers: potable water equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, fuel management equipment, power generating equipment, or camp shelter systems
Must have 10+ years of experience within the last 14 years performing in-service engineering support for three or more of the following: potable water equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, fuel management equipment, power generating equipment, or camp shelter systems
