Description
Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger, collaborating with organizations throughout Ohio to provide nutritious meals to at-risk children who need them most. CHA partners with in-home childcare providers, childcare centers, afterschool, and summer programs to provide balanced, nutritious meals to children in their care. Additionally, they work with schools to increase breakfast participation and provide weekend meals to students. CHA educators also deliver nutrition education to support children’s long-term health.
The Communications Associate supports and assists the implementation of communications and marketing strategies for Children’s Hunger Alliance to enhance CHA’s brand and programs internally and externally. Performs planning, content creation, and management of the CHA website and social media channels; tracks relevant digital analytics; and creates and edits physical and digital communications and marketing materials following CHA standards.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates creativity and innovation in implementation of tactics and strategies as well as strong promotional writing skills appropriate to target audiences.
Develops recommendations and marketing tactics and strategies in response to the dynamic landscape of social media.
Develops pitches and proactively provides stories and multimedia content. Assists in writing, editing, and dissemination of news releases, social media posts, newsletters, and media relations.
Provides tactical and strategic assistance on implementation of the strategic communications and marketing plan.
Writes and edits posts for website and social media platforms; creates publications and collateral materials; assists in media relations, event planning and coordination, and other projects as assigned.
Ensures the consistency and quality of brand messaging and visuals internally and externally.
Creates and edits communications and marketing materials regularly.
Creates high-quality content in various forms across multiple platforms.
Creates social media content calendar and posting schedule across all platforms in alignment with communications and marketing calendar.
Writes, edits, and posts content for social media, including time-sensitive information, CHA events, major campaigns, and brand awareness content.
Assists in the planning and design of physical and digital communications and marketing materials, including television and radio ads, printed collateral, social media ads, and emails.
Coordinates internal projects from conception to completion.
Ensures all communications and marketing materials conform to CHA brand standards.
Ensures media requirements, as defined by strategic plan and grant requirements, are executed properly.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, design, or a related field
Professional experience should include work in at least one area of the fields listed above. Nonprofit work a plus
Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) when required
Ability to travel to various statewide regions when required
Knowledge of:
Social media platforms, marketing and management tools, and best practices, including SEO and analytics
Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Premier Pro or other video-editing software is a plus
Microsoft Office
Google Workspace and project management software experience are a plus
AP Style for written communication
Skills:
Must be able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
Must have strong oral and written communications skills, including a thorough understanding of correct grammar
Must be able to work under deadline pressure and with multiple interruptions
Must have strong organizational skills and an eagerness to accept new challenges
Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including in oral and written communications
Video and photography knowledge are a plus

Experience:
Must have at least two years of experience in creating written and visual content for social media
Must have at least two years experience with social media management and analytics tools
Must have one year experience with the creation of printed collateral
Experience in working with printshops is a plus
