In 1984, we opened Finish Line in Bakersfield, CA with the idea of creating a bicycle shop that carried the latest and finest cycling products anywhere, as well as providing the highest quality of customer service possible. To this day, all of us here at Finish Line continue to maintain that belief.
Duties
Wheel truing
Wheel builds
Servicing suspension
Consulting and executing custom bike builds
Handle everyday service
Carry out minor repairs (ie changing flats)
Repairing and/or replacing damaged or worn out parts
Fitting accessories (lights, pannier racks or cycle computers
Carrying out routine safety checks
Cleaning, de-greasing and lubricating bicycles and components
Diagnose faults, damage and wear to give accurate estimates to customers, and educating them on and whether repairs are essential or recommended
Creating service tickets on point of sale system
Fill out detailed records on services that have been performed
Assemble new bikes and quality check builds before handing off to customers
Educate customers on additional products they may need in addition to their bike
Educate customers on how to use and maintain their bike
Provide excellent communication with customers in-person, via phone and email
Min Requirements
Be at least 18 years old
Mechanic: 2 years (Preferred)
Mechanical inspection: 2 years (Preferred)
Minimum 3 years' experience as a technician / mechanic in a bike shop by demonstrating proficiency in the following:
Disc brake setup and adjustment.
Ability to bleed multiple styles of brakes
Derailleur setup and adjustment.
Suspension setup and adjustment.
Ability to perform routine suspension service
Proper frame prep techniques.
Ability to build wheels.
Frame Alignment.
Understanding of bicycle fit.
Knowledge of the bicycle industry: manufacturers, parts, accessories, etc.
Ability to complete full tune-ups/bike builds as well as install, repair, service, test and troubleshoot problems
Ability to effectively manage time and takes initiative to utilize downtime
Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule

Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces
