Founded in 2022, we are a fully funded UK-based start-up in the early commercialisation stage. Our team blends deep technical expertise with a pragmatic approach to enterprise blockchain adoption. We have offices in Cambridge (Cambridge Science Park) and London (City of London). This role is hybrid, based in Cambridge, with 2-3 days per week in the office .

THE ROLE

As a Platform Software Lead/Architect, you will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of the Tokenovate platform services — spanning identity and access management (IAM), observability, cloud infrastructure, and platform APIs.

You will define and own the technical roadmap for core platform services, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and well-integrated into the product ecosystem. You will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and leadership to balance delivery with platform excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone passionate about building resilient and observable platforms, guiding technical teams, and ensuring engineering best practices are consistently applied.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Architecture & Engineering

Design, develop and evolve Tokenovate’s platform services architecture with a focus on scalability, security, and operational excellence.

Lead development of IAM solutions, observability pipelines, internal APIs, cloud automation, and system integrations.

Define platform service interfaces and integration patterns for engineering teams.

Ensure platform components align with ISO27001, SOC2 and DORA certification standards and best practices.

Technical Leadership & Strategy

Own and drive the technical roadmap for platform services, aligned with overall product and business goals.

Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineering teams, mentoring and guiding software engineers and cloud architects practitioners.

Establish and champion engineering practices across the platform including testing, monitoring, deployment, and security standards.

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with product management and engineering leadership to shape the platform roadmap and deliver robust, reusable services.

Collaborate with security, operations, and compliance teams to ensure platform services meet regulatory and internal standards.

Partner with application teams to ensure platform services are easy to consume, well-documented, and reliable.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-haves

Strong commercial experience in designing and building scalable platform services in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Proven track record of designing IAM solutions, observability frameworks, and operational tools.

Deep experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems design.

Solid understanding of secure software development practices and regulatory frameworks such as ISO27001.

Hands-on experience with TypesScript or similar backend languages.

Strong experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, etc.).

Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and highly mission-driven environment.

Nice-to-haves

Experience leading platform engineering initiatives in a fintech, financial services, or SaaS environment.

Experience with API gateways, service mesh architectures, and cloud-native security patterns.

Exposure to compliance and auditing requirements in regulated industries.

Experience with modern observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.).

Familiarity with authentication and authorisation protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML).
