POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Relations Coordinator at Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard is instrumental in advancing the organization's mission and fostering positive relationships with the community, stakeholders, and veterans across all major programs, including The Veterans Affairs Grant Per Diem (GPD) Transitional housing Programs, the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP), and the Veterans Place Service Center (VRC), the Wellness Center and other Veterans Place programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations and Development, this position collaborates closely with the Director to implement the strategic goals and objectives of Veterans Place. The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for representing the agency at community functions, events, and outreach initiatives, as well as implementing veteran engagement strategies, recognition programs, and marketing efforts to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Community Relations and Outreach (25%):

· Develop and implement outreach strategies in cooperation with the Director of Operations and Development to engage with community stakeholders, including local government agencies, businesses, nonprofit organizations, individual donors, and veteran service providers. The goal is to increase knowledge of Veterans Place and interaction with Veterans Place.

· Support the Outreach Coordinator and attend community events, meetings, and conferences to raise awareness of the organization's mission and programs.

· Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and leverage resources for donations of materials, supplies and services to support veteran's services and programing.

Program Support and Veteran Engagement (25%):

· Coordinate with the Director of Operations and Development in the planning and execution of veteran recognition programs, events, and activities to honor and celebrate the contributions of veterans.

· Solicit, coordinate and manage volunteers and the efficient use of volunteers to support the mission and services of Veterans Place.

Marketing and Branding (20%):

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development with the creation and implementation of marketing strategies to promote Veterans Place programs, services, and events across various channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, and print materials.

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development in the creation and implementation of an annual plan for on-site events that promotes Veterans Place and services to veterans, by promoting and raising awareness of Veterans Place within the community.

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development with the creation and implementation of a social media plan that raises awareness of Veterans Place and promotes awareness of veteran homelessness.

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development with the creation and implementation of compelling content, including stories, testimonials, and multimedia assets, to highlight the impact of Veterans Place and engage supporters.

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development with ensuring consistency in branding and messaging across all marketing materials and communications platforms, in alignment with organizational values and priorities.

· Assist and support the Director of Operations and Development with monitoring and analyzing marketing metrics and performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts and making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

Donor Relations (20%):

· Collaborate with the Director of Operations and Development to support fundraising and development activities, including working with donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect) to track donor interactions, manage donor databases, and generate reports.

· Collaborate with the Director of Operations and Development to engage community organizations and individual donors through personalized communication, stewardship activities, and donor appreciation efforts to foster long-term relationships and support.

· Coordinate and support activities such as the annual Kennywood outing, holiday events, sports activities, and on-site activities.

· Support the Director of Operations and Development in appeals to potential corporate and individual donors to raise funds or obtain resources to meet identified needs.

· Support the Director of Operations and Development in coordinating internal and external fundraising activities, events, and campaigns, including logistics planning, volunteer recruitment, and donor engagement strategies.

· Support the Director of Operations and Development in donor prospecting, cultivation, and solicitation efforts to increase financial support and donor engagement.

· Support the Director of Development and Community Relations in managing Veterans Place's website and ensuring it is updated and effectively promoting Veterans Place and veteran's issues.

· Coordinate with and support volunteers who wish to provide support to Veterans Place and the Veterans we serve.

· Oversee the in-kind donation program, working Program Managers to identify the needs of the veterans while ensuring donors are recognized for their contributions and donations are stored properly.

Administrative Support (10%):

· Support and assist the Director of Operations and Development in administrative tasks, including budget management, reporting, and record-keeping related to community relations and outreach activities.

· Support and assist the Director of Operations and Development in preparing reports, presentations, and briefing materials for internal stakeholders, board members, and external partners as needed.

· Support and assist the Director of Operations and Development by coordinating logistics for community events, meetings, and outreach activities, including venue selection, scheduling, and logistics coordination.

· Provide support to other departments and team members as needed to advance organizational goals and initiatives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Communications, Marketing, Administration, Public Relations, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.

· Minimum of three years of professional experience in community relations, outreach, administration, marketing, or public relations, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

· Demonstrated success in support and administrative capacities.

· Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills

· Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy

· Self-starter with an ability to keep supervisor aware of, and up to date on a project's progress as well as any challenges that arise.

· Commitment to the mission and values of Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard.

· Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Design experience or a good eye for layout and visual presentation is a plus

· Familiarity with editing tools or design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
