Job Summary:

As a CNC Route Operator, you will be an essential member of the manufacturing team, contributing to the success of our operations. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented operator who will be responsible for operating router tables and moving sign components throughout production. Primary duties include Operating CNC machines, rotating material on and off CNC tables, labeling and staging sign components, setting up files maintaining CNC equipment, keeping route department clean and organized, and ensuring efficient and high-quality production.

Responsibilities:

CNC Route Operation:

Set up and prepare the CNC router for production, ensuring the proper loading of materials and tool configuration.

Set up files using Illustrator for efficiency with batching jobs for production.

Organize/set up/stage the department job board. This includes job staging and job priority.

Follow maintenance schedule for CNC Route machines. (Examples: Changing the oil in vacuum pumps, greasing bearings on CNC machines, re-calibrating tools, resurfacing tables, cleaning air compressors, and replacing damaged parts.)

Continuously evaluate and improve the CNC routing processes, identifying areas for optimization, efficiency gains, and cost savings.

Loading CNC tables, surfacing, and securing the correct material following the Route Controllers daily plan and route schedule.

Unloading CNC tables, ensuring that sign components are labeled and go to the proper department, cart, or teammate. Immediately discard scrap/waste/drop into the proper receptacle.

Maintain material racks. Keep material racks clean, organized, in order, and stocked.

Maintain, organize, and upkeep toolboxes, tool racks, scrap racks, bit storage, and route consumable stock.

Maintain, organize, and keep route tables, floors, and staging areas clean at the end of every shift.

Receive materials from the shipping department and ensure materials are stored on proper shelving.

Drilling, Tapping, de-burring, and countersinking sign components.

Safety

Enforce all safety rules and document safety incidents with the QC and Safety Manager.

Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the CNC router and handling materials and tools.

Promote and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Process

Adherence to all SW processes and standards.

Progress Tracking, Coordination, and Communication.

Work with department lead and follow production schedules to prioritize tasks ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and meeting production targets.

Collaborating with various departments and department leads to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.

Cross training in key departments based on skill, interest, experience, and production needs.

Record Keeping

Maintain detailed records of production runs, material usage, production times, and any encountered issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent. (Vocational training or certifications in routing, cad programs, Illustrator or a related field is a plus.)

- Experience with operating a fork-lift. (Forklift certification is a plus.)

- Ability to lift at least 50lbs.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet production deadlines.

- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.

- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality.

- Able to read and interpret Shop Drawings.

- Willingness to adapt to new techniques and technologies in the CNC routing industry.

- Strong Organizational skills.

- Machine maintenance/service (and/or) electrical experience is a plus.
