Job Description
The Employee Benefits (EB) Relationship Manager will take the lead role for all day-to-day contact within assigned book of business, all renewal requirements, plan implementation and service needs of the client and will support the Producer as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate and implement benefit renewals by maintaining primary ongoing relationship with specified clients.
· Prepare and present, alongside Producer, annual policy renewals and optional plan designs to the client utilizing account comparison presentation materials.
· Quote plans either using our internal quoting system (small group) or direct with the carriers.
· Handle escalated concerns and questions raised by the client and/or vendor during renewal process.
· Prepare open enrollment materials to either load into Employee Navigator, print for packets or email electronically.
· Cross-market any other Rose Street Advisors services where appropriate and stay abreast of new and existing RSA services available inside and outside of the EB Department during the renewal process.
2. Process sold benefit plans for clients.
· Communicate and coordinate implementation and service-related aspects of the case with the client, vendor(s) and internal contacts.
· Work with the vendors to ensure required materials are available and services are provided in an effective and timely manner.
· Work with the vendor(s) on resolving any issues of concern to the client, or issues that convey a trend that might impact RSA's recommendation as a vendor to future clients.
· Utilize Agency Bloc (database) and Microsoft One Note to track meetings, conversations or any pertinent information that guarantees a complete history of client interactions.
3. Project coordinate new or innovative concepts for clients.
· Participate in educational opportunities by meeting with vendors regarding new products, rating methodology, etc. to protect our competitiveness in the market.
· Share technical and administrative expertise to the RSA team continuously to support continued education in the EB Department.
4. Follow and utilize systems and processes
· Update Agency Bloc with renewal data.
· Follow filing process determined by Employee Benefit Manager.
5. New Business Support
· Support Employee Benefit Advisor with the new business process to include -
o Prepare and submit RFP requests to carriers when needed.
o Quote plans only as requested following established new business process.
o Prepare benefit comparisons.
o Complete implementation paperwork including submission to carriers within the agreed to deadlines.
o Prepare Agent of Record letters for signature.
o Update Agency Bloc with new client information.
o Ensure all necessary agreements have been signed by new client.
o Complete new business revenue tracking forms and broker compensation statements.
o When applicable, assist in the completion of Employee Navigator workbooks.
6. Miscellaneous duties (not all inclusive).
· Assist in developing and implementing seminars for current clients, prospects and centers of influence.
· Assist in development and review of RSA's marketing tools to ensure accurate reflection of our firm.
· Stay informed on national and local policy issues affecting the products sold in the EB area.
7. Establish positive relationships with all clients, carriers and vendor contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill, and or ability required.
KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION / LICENSE(S)
Minimum of ten years of experience in employee benefits.
Life & Health license, or willing to obtain your license if not currently licensed.
Maintain CE requirements for Life & Health license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a professional manner. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer proficiency is required in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Technically versed in the aspects of employee benefit plans. Ability to format with aesthetic presentation as well as calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is located primarily in our Grand Rapids location with flexibility to work remotely when needed. There will be times you will also travel to our main office located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
