Job Title: Lead Developer
Location: Remote (Main Office in Rosemont, IL)
Job Type: W2 Contract (6-month, potential to extend)
Expected hours per week: 40
Schedule: Monday – Friday, core hours between 9am – 5pm CST
Pay Range: Starting at $62.85 per hour
Job Description: The LFRM 2.0 project aims to modernize how freight rates are calculated, managed, and validated across our organization. This initiative involves developing a scalable platform on newer infrastructure components and technologies, replacing current manual processes with automated solutions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs for the LFRM 2.0 project.
Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
Implement and manage database schemas, queries, and optimizations for efficient data storage and retrieval.
Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability and scalability of services.
Integrate and configure New Relic for application performance monitoring and logging.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Node.js.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high quality software delivery.
Document technical specifications, system architecture, and deployment processes.
Environment: The team operates in a fast paced, agile environment, requiring collaboration across various departments including marketing, IT, and customer service.
Technical Requirements:
Strong knowledge of MySQL databases, including schema design and query optimization.
Proficiency in Java and Node.js Framework.
Background in logistics, transportation, or freight rate management systems.
Preferred Technical Requirements:
Experience with setup and configuration of New Relic Alerts Monitoring and Dashboard.
Broad experience setting up feature flags leveraging tools like Switch.io and Cloudbees.
Required Soft Skills:
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced agile environment.
Strong systems thinking mindset with the ability to distill and clarify complex logic.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in back-end development, with a strong focus on database development working with large data volumes and reporting.
