Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced KDB Developer to join our [trading/technology/analytics] team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance real-time data systems using kdb+/q. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of time-series data management, excellent q programming skills, and an interest in financial markets.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, optimize, and maintain kdb+/q databases and applications.
• Build real-time and historical data capture solutions for financial markets.
• Design and implement efficient queries for large-scale time-series data.
• Collaborate closely with quants, traders, and software engineers to deliver robust data solutions.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Enhance existing systems to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Work on data ingestion pipelines from external and internal sources.
• Provide documentation and support for developed solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best coding practices.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on development experience with kdb+/q.
• Strong understanding of time-series data and real-time system architectures.
• Experience working in financial services (especially trading desks, market data, or quantitative research) is highly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell scripting) is a plus.
• Familiarity with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, Tibco, ZeroMQ) is an advantage.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Skills:
• Exposure to AWS/Azure cloud services.
• Experience with databases like SQL, NoSQL, or other in-memory data stores.
• Knowledge of equity, fixed income, FX, or commodities markets.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
