Position Overview: Reporting to the Vice President, this role is responsible for leading, developing, and executing projects focused on process improvements and operational excellence in asphalt production and application. This strategic role requires a visionary with extensive experience in chemical engineering to oversee high-level projects and foster innovation across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate will embody a "lead from the front" mentality, demonstrating a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process enhancement.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and manage projects related to the production and application of asphalt materials.
Coordinate & develop project timelines, classified project estimates, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of asphalt production and application.
Oversee the design of new processes and facilities as needed (green and brownfield).
Provide technical leadership and support to team members, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, engineering information, specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Lead root cause analysis efforts for production challenges and implement corrective actions.
Work closely with other departments to align engineering initiatives with company objectives.
Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and advancements in asphalt materials and production techniques.
Business travel to all sites is required. Travel may be 30-50%. Scheduling of travel is flexible and on an as needed basis.
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Chemical Engineering Degree.
An advanced degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Leadership experience, building superior teams, setting expectations, holding people accountable
Minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in engineering or manufacturing. Strong preference for engineering experience within a chemical manufacturing/processing environment or equivalent.
Large asphalt OR chemical plant experience.
Familiarity with industry standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, & APA is desirable.

Physical Requirements:
