Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing Engineer: Rockford, IL

Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency. This role is ideal for an analytical problem solver with a background in manufacturing and a passion for continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Engineer will lead projects, analyze data, and implement best practices to ensure high-quality production and streamlined operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage process optimization and continuous improvement projects from concept to completion

Conduct time and process studies, evaluate machine capabilities, and recommend efficiency enhancements

Develop and maintain production routes for all relevant manufacturing items

Ensure processes meet quality standards (APQP, PPAP, metallurgical specs)

Collaborate with Quality Control to refine in-process inspections and maintain product integrity

Work alongside engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot machining and assembly processes

Identify and implement tooling solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce costs

Participate in capital expenditure planning for new equipment and process improvements

Optimize plant layouts to enhance workflow and improve space utilization

Assist with the ISO 9001 compliance audit process and risk assessments for equipment reliability

Support efforts to minimize scrap, improve setup times, and streamline production flow

Skills & Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR equivalent combination of education & technical experience, required

Experience: 3+ years in manufacturing, required

Knowledge: Through-feed grinding, roll forming, induction heat treatment & CNC programming, strongly preferred

Software: 3D modeling & 2D drawing experience in CAD systems, required

Familiarity: workstation design, assembly tools, fixtures, & Kanban systems, strongly preferred

Pay: $70,000 - $90,000/year + Quarterly Bonus

Type: Full-time, 1st shift, on-site

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
