Title : Embedded Systems Engineer < Aerospace background>

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Duration : 2 year contract

Rate: $60 to $70/hr on W2

Control Systems Engineers/Control Software Engineers:

Responsible for understanding customer requirements, defining system-level and component-specific requirements, and ensuring system compliance through rigorous testing and documentation. Engineers perform integration and system-level testing across various platforms (simulation to flight test), ensuring alignment with ARP4754A and airworthiness standards.

Focus on creating and validating software requirements, implementing designs, coding, and testing within simulation and integrated systems. Responsibilities include software-hardware integration and supporting comprehensive test suites, maintaining compliance with DO-178C and airworthiness standards.

Toolsets used may include both text-based and model-based systems depending on the program.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop safety-critical engine control systems and software to meet ARP4754A, DO-178C, military standards, and customer compliance.

Define high-quality system and software-level requirements.

Design, implement, and test software components ensuring full compliance with project requirements.

Enhance development processes for compliance and efficiency.

Implement CI/CD frameworks to support iterative development and testing.

Engage with certification authorities to present compliance data and close findings.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 2–10 years of relevant experience OR

Master’s degree with related experience OR

JD/PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

5–15 years’ experience in embedded, safety-critical systems or software

Experience in safety-critical control system design

Familiarity with model-based design tools (e.g., Cameo, Matlab/Simulink)

Experience with military and/or FAA certification processes

Hands-on with integration and system testing across development platforms

Knowledge of full lifecycle development (requirements through release)

Familiarity with gas turbine engine control systems

Programming experience in ADA, Python, C, C++

Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
