The R&D Process Engineer is responsible for leading development of new technologies from a fundamental science approach that delivers greater manufacturing productivity and product quality with capital-efficient operations.
R&D Process Engineer Responsibilities:
Expand core understanding of centrifugal fiberizing processes
Apply this knowledge to develop fiberizing systems that significantly enhance manufacturing efficiency and/or product quality
Enhance fundamental knowledge of fiber collection and the formation of pack structures
Use this insight to design collection systems that improve weight distribution and pack structure, resulting in better thermal and mechanical performance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to quickly prototype new ideas
Design and execute experiments to validate innovative concepts
Lead the progression of new concepts through to full-scale plant implementation
Utilize external partnerships to strengthen capabilities and accelerate innovation
Maintain comprehensive and detailed technical documentation
R&D Process Engineer Qualifications:
Master or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in thermal/ fluid flow sciences
5 years of industrial R&D experience
Experience with commercial CAD, CFD codes, and FEA codes
Experience with the design and testing of high-temperature systems that challenge material selection
Experience with the design and testing of high-speed rotating systems
