Linux Engineer

About the Role:

Chipotle is seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to support an immediate AI-related, customer-facing project. We’re looking for someone who is deeply experienced with Red Hat Linux, and has a strong ability to build, configure, and troubleshoot Linux systems at an advanced level — including kernel work.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI initiatives now, with future expansion into large-scale restaurant platform projects as part of Chipotle’s ongoing technology innovation efforts.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Build, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, primarily Red Hat, but with some exposure to Debian/Ubuntu environments.

Perform advanced system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance tuning.

Compile and customize Linux kernels as needed to meet project requirements.

Support AI-focused customer-facing initiatives, ensuring system stability, scalability, and security.

Collaborate with engineering teams to design infrastructure solutions for current and future restaurant-scale projects.

Leverage Microsoft Azure cloud services to support Linux environments (if applicable).

Must-Have Skills:

Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and troubleshooting.

Exposure to Debian/Ubuntu Linux distributions.

Expertise in building, configuring, and customizing Linux systems, including kernel compilation.

Deep understanding of Linux system internals, networking, and security practices.

Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues independently.

Strongly Preferred Skills:

Experience deploying and managing Linux environments in Microsoft Azure.

Prior work on AI/machine learning infrastructure or large-scale customer-facing platforms.

Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Ansible, Bash, Python).
