About the Opportunity:

Our client, a rapidly growing private equity-backed construction company located in Northwest Houston (290 & Beltway area), is seeking a hands-on Controller to join their leadership team. This is a high-impact role working closely with the CFO, executive team, and PE partners to drive financial strategy and operational excellence.

Key Qualifications:

5+ years of progressive accounting/finance leadership (construction industry experience required)

Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting expertise – non-negotiable

Strong technical accounting/finance skills with Big 4 audit experience (preferred)

CPA strongly preferred

Fiduciary mindset with exceptional business acumen

Project management prowess – ability to streamline processes and lead cross-functional initiatives

"Hands-on" leader who dives into details while maintaining strategic oversight

Superior communication skills – can translate financials for ops teams and present to executives/PE partners

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership: Oversee all general accounting, financial reporting, and POC accounting for construction projects.

PE & Stakeholder Management: Support the CFO with board/PE reporting, audits, and investor relations.

Treasury & Controls: Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and strengthen internal controls.

Strategic Planning: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities.

Systems & Process Optimization: Modernize accounting systems and workflows for scalability.

M&A Integration: Assist with due diligence and post-acquisition financial harmonization.

Tax & Compliance: Collaborate with external tax advisors on planning and filings.

Operational Partnership: Work alongside executives to drive profitable growth.
